Mr Brews Taphouse’s 2nd Annual Golf Outing Raises Over $6,700 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation
One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Each year, Mr Brews Taphouse announces a charity partner for the year’s annual golf outing. As many Mr Brews Taphouse owners and employees have been directly affected by breast cancer, benefitting the Susan G. Komen Foundation was a natural fit for the 2018 event in September. At Tuesday’s check presentation, it was revealed that $6,717.31 has been raised for the Wisconsin branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The mission of the Susan G. Komen Foundation is to save lives by finding research breakthroughs for breast cancer, and ensuring all people receive the care they need. The money raised by attendees of the Mr Brews Taphouse golf event will be used in two ways:
Finding a cure for breast cancer has never been more important. 56% of the funds for research go towards finding more effective treatments for breast cancer, and 18% goes toward better tools for detecting, diagnosing and determining treatment for breast cancer patients.
Breast Assistance Fund
Did you know that the cost for a Komen paid mammogram is $158? The Susan G. Komen Foundation pays that cost for those that qualify who are underinsured or uninsured. The Foundation funds 212,324 screenings, 41,695 diagnostics, 37,196 treatment assistance services and 500+ clinical trials each year. That’s a lot of numbers that add up to one thing: your donations support a very important cause.
